What is the correct Irish Orthographical way to write names with O', Mac or Mc in them?

Hi,

I openly admit to being completely flummuxed regarding the proper use of O, Mac and Mc in surnames.

Correct me if I am wrong. If a name is in Irish, a space should go between the Mac, Mc or 脫, such as Mac Eoin, 脫 Fiach, etc.. However, if the surname is in English then the space is dropped, e.g. MacDonald, O'Brien.

Am I right, am I wrong?|||Your are correct . . . . .|||Absolutely, O'.....
